February Focus - Leader in Me - Habit 6 - Synergize - "Work together to do better"
This habit focuses on how we can get along with and work with others, even those that are different than us. We focus on working together in order to achieve our goals and achieve more together. Through habit 6 we can set goals as a team and problem solve with different ideas in order to grow and learn more each day!
At home students can focus on working together with adults and siblings. Doing things together or sharing chores with the family in order to get more done!
Mrs. Duin is also discussing the book "The Hard Hat" with students in her morning videos. It talks about teamwork and how to be a good teammate. The book focuses on ways in which we can be a great team member in order to work together to achieve more!

Kindergarten Registration is Coming!
Is your child 5 or turning 5 and ready to start Kindergarten? Anne Sullivan will have Kindergarten registration on March 6th, 2025, from 3-5:30pm. Come, bring your child, and meet the teachers!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the school office, 605-367-6084!

Looking Back - January Focus - Leader in Me - Habit 5 - Think first to understand, then to be understood!
Habit 5 helps us to listen to others and understand different perspectives or points of view. It teachers us that we can give our opinion in respectful ways but that others may have different opinions that we need to listen to and respect. Lastly, it helps students to work on effective communication skills such as speaking clearly, calmly, and using respectful words in order to get our ideas and thoughts out.

NO SCHOOL next Monday and Tuesday!
Anne Sullivan Families and the Sioux Falls School District, there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 17th and Tuesday, February 18th!
Enjoy the long weekend, stay safe and stay warm!

♥ Valentine's Day Parties!! ♥
The classroom Valentine parties will be on Friday, February 14th. Your student(s) can bring a card for their classmates, but we ask that NO TREATS are brought in. You can bring pencils, erasers, bouncy balls, or non-food items.
Again, this is due to allergies and making sure all students are included.
Please call Mrs. Duin or Mrs. Karst if you have questions about this.

A recent Facebook post regarding Washington High School falsely claimed a routine request for a birth certificate was related to immigration status.
State Law (SDCL 13-27-3.1-3.3) requires all public school students to have a birth certificate on file within 30 days of enrollment. When required records are missing from student files, school staff regularly attempt to contact families before sending the required information to the State’s Attorney.
These requests are made solely to ensure compliance with State Law and to maintain complete student records. They are in no way related to immigration enforcement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families.
Please reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions rather than relying on social media for accurate information. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping student records up to date.

4th Grade DAPA Play
Today our 4th grade students got to attend the DAPA play titled "Magic School". It was about the harmful effects of social media and spreading rumors about others. It helped students see how it can hurt others when things are posted that are not true or out of their control.
The message for students to take home, "Meanest on social media spreads and it can't be reversed after the fact, so be aware of what you are saying and be kind!"

"Soup"er Bowl Results
This week Anne Sullivan students had a fundraiser to support the local food shelf. Every day we celebrated with dress up days as student brought in items to donate to the food shelf. Each grade level competed to see which class could bring in the most items.
As a school we brought in 3,740 items! Everyone did an amazing job and had lots of fun dressing up!
